Temperature ratings for sleeping bags and mattresses are determined using a test designed by ASTM. There is no test designed for a modular sleep system that integrates a mattress with insulation layers.

The values below are based on feedback we’ve received while testing the Badger Bed in different environments.

The Therm-a-Rest MondoKing XXL has an insulation rating of R7 which makes it one of the warmest mattresses on the market. You loose a lot of heat from below, so a quality mattress is key to being comfortable.

The Badger Bed Sierra Bundle should keep you warm above 30 degrees. We’ve added a Baja quilt and slept comfortable at 15 degrees. Two Sierra Down quilts have been used down to 5 degrees.

Shelter, heat sources, weather conditions can effect these recommendations.
